Tomorrow will start Day One.
So many failed attempts to stop. I need to build a support system for accountability.
A support system is key. 1 day at a time:)
Reach out…
There is strength in numbers
Meetings meetings meetings will help
Meetings!!! Accountability starts with yourself though. Get that Step one down. It’s powerful.
I'm not sure where you're getting hung up , but I couldn't recommend a medical detox more if withdrawals are an issue. I've quit four times and this time is by far the strongest due to a medical detox of 4 days in a hospital -like setting. If withdrawals aren't an issue, a rehab would supply the accountability and structure needed to form a foundation of society. Rehab also gives you a lot of things to do in order to distract from drinking/using as well. I only did 28 days but it can be as long as you need. Most are covered by insurance, including Medicaid, and, if you have none they often sign you up there. I'd recommend you check out those available in an acceptable radius and read some reviews from patients and choose from that. There's no shame in needing help and it sounds like you are similar to me in starting over and over. I needed rehab and I'm certain it would help you drastically in your sobriety. Good luck.
After 3 weeks, it will become very easy
Lol
Agree with medical detox and potentially rehab. I went to detox 6 times before finally going to rehab and have been sober since.
Tomorrow will be my day one also. similarly, I have an almost embarrassingly large amount failed attempts at sobriety and “day ones” Some lasting years others minutes. I just try to remember, it’s not as bad as it could be if I am starting over. Also, to temper my negative self talk. Hang tough girl!
I am here as a supportive peer and a possible accountability partner!
40 years of alcoholism I went to 65 days of rehab. Learning about life daily with a sober brain is amazing. I definitely need my higher power daily to continue my journey.
I’m here for support also.
Thank you!
Just hit 10 months
I send a “friend request” please message me if you need. Nine times out of time, you’ll be helping me!
Addiction is a disease, not a weakness or moral failing. Diseases need treatment.
Willpower is not treatment. It’s denial of the problem.
I tried it my way at least 1000 times. I was always sure I would get there if I just kept trying. But my way did not and does not work. And from your post, it seems like your way isn’t going so great either.
Hopefully you will try something different soon. 12 step program saved my life. I cannot recommend it enough. Hit those meetings with honesty and humility. Do the work that is suggested. See what happens.
Insane !!! Day 6 in a row!!!!
I am staying busy and hitting meetings now it’s day 6.
Today is Day one and all you have to worry about. Just don’t take that first drink or drug today. It’s always for today. I get the feeling people hesitate to recommend AA on here but it WORKS! Put aside and pre-notion you may have of it and give it a try. And keep giving it a try until it works.
