Tonight was a special night.
I typically attend a meeting at 5:45PM and wasn’t able to since I had to be at my nieces birthday dinner.
My girlfriend and I decided to attend a 8pm meeting we have never been to. When we arrived we sat at the front, waiting for it to start.
After about 5min we both realized that the chair and DL wasn’t going to show. I nudged her jokingly that she should do it. Well she didn’t hesitate and she owned that meeting! She was able to choose a DL in the meeting and the topic he chose touched many people there.
Because I chose to get sober when I did, I was fortunate enough to meet my amazing girlfriend at an AA meeting. Because I decided to be apart of my family’s birthday celebration tonight. Because I really didn’t want to go to a meeting but knew I needed to be there. Because the guy that DL’d the meeting chose to be there. Because the mother who showed up to the wrong meeting with her daughter and decided to stay anyways.
It all lead to a wonderful meeting that would of never happened if my higher power didn’t guide me to sobriety. He has a plan for me and everyone here.
It was very moving to see just one decision YOU make can change someone’s life forever.
