Totally screwed up today. Had 3 months plus. How did I get here?
Hellooo
I’m hurting
Never mind and thank you
Hi patty don’t beat yourself up over it, it happens to the best of us. Our failures are our biggest lessons. If you can pick yourself up out of this it WILL make you stronger
Hey are you ok Patty?
Patty, the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous talks about this same situation you’re in.
One story that stands out is the guy who went into a restaurant for a sandwich. He ordered a sandwich and a glass of milk. Then he ordered another sandwich and another glass of milk. He had a thought that if he pour whisky in his milk that it would be alright especially since he had a full stomach. He did and orders three more drinks afterwards. He had no intentions of drinking that day. Our disease gets us drunk well before we take the first drink. It starts in our minds. That thought! It’s those dang thoughts that get us drunk. AA meetings are a great start. Asking questions, getting numbers and being of service. Doing the steps will help if you’re a alcoholic like me. My life has changed so much since I’ve completed the steps for the first time ever and I’m now working them daily…. They are a part of my life now.
Back in the saddle again. One day at a time
Kevin honestly summed up all the facts Patty. Being sober of mind leads to being physically sober. I also think it’s important to know your purpose in life and do what you love in some capacity. That’s what is keeping me sober and I barely have 2 weeks, so I have the upmost respect for your 3 months. Im glad you are getting back in the game though. That’s all that matters. Proud of you for that. And wishing you all the luck in the world for continued sobriety.
Thanks for the support. Doing better today and hitting a meeting
That is awesome!! I just left a 5am & 6am!! I pray you a great day Patty. And glad to hear you’re feeling better.
Good for you!
Guess it doesn’t hurt bad enough.
Many talk about getting out of self and engaging in service work.
Nowhere in the book does it talk about forgiveness of self.
Recognize self-pity self-centeredness and selfishness fear
Get to a meeting and talk about it
I really appreciate your help
I am
Get over YOUR selfJustin! I was reaching out and you immediately went to self-centered! Whatever
I don’t mean Justin gray
I engage in service work every week for 5 hours of my time so don’t slam me with your “help”. Try generosity to help another person looking to connect. You Justin are the very person that I have no need for in my journey
Listen…. Dust yourself off and try staying clean again. If you got whipped bad enough you will wave that white flag and surrender. But until then you will continue the insanity. Surrendering is the key.
With 21 years clean I have learned for myself that that I can make all the meeting read all the books do all the service but if I did not Surrender to the fact that enough was enough and surrender to the disease of addiction I would not be coming up on 22 years April 23, 2022. Surrender is the key you got to want it
