Trazodone?

Does anyone else take Trazodone for insomnia? My psychiatrist prescribed it for me and he said take one or two pills before bedtime. I did that, I take 2 and it does nothing! Why would that be? I still can’t sleep and for the short amount that I do (1-2 hours), I wake up and have to be up for about an hour before falling asleep. Nothing has changed and I thought this medication was fairly potent?

Trazedone gives me weird dreams and it depends on the milligram if it’s the ones that are actually trapezoids yes those are a high dosage

The pills are 25 mg each. So I’m taking 50 at the moment and I don’t feel a thing.

Didn’t do anything for me, either. Granted, I don’t have insomnia, but it was given to me in detox and for my first week at rehab to try and help me sleep. Never did a thing.

I do and it is a GAME CHANGER!!! In the past, if I woke up in the middle of night, couldn't get back to sleep. Like ever. And no it's not a problem. I had terrible insomnia and an awful work / sleep schedule. Not any more. Used to toss and turn for at least an hour before finally falling to sleep. If I ever did. Now, soooo much better.
I take what I think is a low dose, 50mg.

In the past i had issues falling asleep and my Dr gave me the same meds and they didn't work until I created a sleep routine.the meds assist in quality of sleep but not necessarily getting to sleep.

I take 100 and I think I need more so a good doctor will get you on the dosage that works. I take Remeron too that helps with depression anxiety and sleep

i used to get that for severe insomnia and it did absolutely nothing. i’d die without seroquel lol only thing that was it’s me to sleep

I’ve taken 350 miligrams that’s about the highest you can go talk to your doctor

I dated a girl who took it and she was a dead inside zombie.

I find the only medication that consistently works and has never required a dose increase eventually is amitriptyline (Elavil) Some people report grogginess in but it’s never been an issue for me. It’s a tricyclic antidepressant so it’s non habit forming.

Lots of different results. If it’s not working try something else.

It might depend on how long you have. Even with sleep aids, If youre in your first 2 weeks or so of sobriety your brains chemicals are still out of balance. But I also tried it for awhile and then switched to seriquil becase trazadone never cut it for me.

I tried it, however it had absolutely zero effect on me as well. Then I switched to Mirtazapine, and I’m not exaggerating by even a scintilla of truth when I tell you that the morning after my first dose I literally tried to put deodorant on my toothbrush……. So I got that goin’ for me….. 🫤😆

It worked for me if I went to sleep after 30minutes from taking it. I now take 50mg of melatonin and like it much better.

It works better when taken in combination with completing the 4th step inventory.

Umm. No.

I’m sorry. I should have said that it worked better for me that way. 100 mg and the peace of mind I found after getting really honest with myself about my past.

Lol…that’s a good one, Craig!
