I don’t know how to live my life without drinking. That includes friends, family, spouse and daily/weekend activities. I miss my old self. I miss being numb. Even if it was just for hours or minutes.

The familiarity of intoxicating is what you miss. You are in New territory and it is scary. You are finding new roads in life that lead to new destinations. You can do this. The members of whatever program you are in are there to help you find the signposts and in some days be the torch by which you see.
Do you really miss the hangovers, the feeling bad about yourself? The shame, the guilt that comes with your old lifestyle? You’ll find out that you’ll learn things about yourself in sobriety that will blow your mind. Especially when it comes to having a full deck upstairs. You’ll meet some of the most amazing people. What about discovering your laugh? I mean a real, true sober laugh. It can only get better. Keep going.
