Just remember Britney....
Don't believe the big lie; that this time, everything will be okay. Because it never is, is it? Make sure you play the scene all the way forward.
You might get some relief for a short period of time but when it's over with you'll be right back where you are right now carrying around more shame and having to start all over again. In Alcoholics Anonymous we call this the Insidious cycle of insanity.
Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol. The effect is so elusive that while they admit it is injurious they cannot after a while differentiate the true from the false.
To them, they're alcoholic life seems the only normal one. They are
restless, irritable and discontented unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks. Drinks which they see others taking with impunity.
After they have succumbed to the desire again as so many do and the
phenomenon of craving
sets in, they passed through the well known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful with a firm resolution to never drink again. This is repeated over and over and unless this person can experience an
entire psychic change
there is very little hope of his or her recovery.
The only thing you have to change in your life if you want to maintain sobriety is everything.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. What you do with it is up to you.
And remember Brittany, if you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always gotten.
Not gonna be easy.... but I'm here for you. Have the best day possible.
