You have already taken the first step Terry . And that’s a huge leap becasue you are conscious of what’s going on and that’s why we are here to figure things out . There are meetings thag a lot of people talk about . I can’t tell you what to do or how to do it but can help brainstorm if you want to be honest for me personally this whole app helps me stay positive and take my mind away from darkness and staying busy and trying to be positive maybe we can all brainstorm to figure out what can work for you there are zoom meetings and all kinds of help to get you started … you’ve done a great job already don’t give up you got this man hit me up whenever :pray:t6::pray:t6::pray:t6::mechanical_arm::mechanical_arm::mechanical_arm::mechanical_arm::mechanical_arm:

If I've learned anything if you cant do a day do an hr or 4 hrs or 8 hrs build your confidence up ...... or do what I did wake up and say I'm done .....

Talking to yourself in the mirror sounds stupid but works wonders tell yourself your not gonna use today and mean it tell yourself what parts of life will be better if you dont use today

2 weeks ago I was able to get through my first 24 hours by talking to 2 different family members on the phone (they were already aware of my situation). Made a list of a few simple tasks to complete Shower, brush my teeth, laundry, and try to eat something (it sounds simple, but these things sometimes take a lot of energy when trying to stay sober for the first day IMO). Lastly, Some TV and youtube. Although my body was very uncomfortable during all of this, these things helped me keep my mind off of alcohol a bit. Also try and get outside for a bit. Hope this helps, sending good vibes your way Terry.

I remember being so freaking scared that I was going to die because of my continuing abuse of alcohol. I could not handle being alone with my thoughts, I went to a lot of AA meetings. It was a place for me to metaphorically barf out all my toxic thinking. The most helpful thing for me was listening to others who have been where I was. I couldn't even speak at meetings for months without balling my eyes out. My rock bottom is somewhere I never want to see again!
