- Uber (cuz my old self can’t walk home in

  • Uber (cuz my old self can’t walk home in the rain with the week’s groceries strapped to my back;

  • afternoon coffee;

  • the ability/money management skills/savings to pay the rent with zero income;

  • the friends I’ve made in sobriety;

  • the ability to sit with my own thoughts and no longer look to escape myself.

Unfortunately I must disagree with you on the Uber situation. In my personal experiences (a handicapped person of color) I have been not picked up/won’t take me to a destination because it was a bad area and last but not least I’ve had two drivers say…”people like you”:face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth: what handicapped or of color either way you can’t walk that back. Afternoon coffee?!?! Girl I do 9pm coffee just so I can say I’m being reckless lol

Well as an able bodied white woman, in a white part of town, my experience with Uber is very different than yours. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do, though, other than encourage you to publicly call out Uber for their mistreatment or minorities and the disabled.

There’s nothing you can do. Actually just your mere acknowledgment is cool. I just really have a hard time with people automatically assuming especially with education. It really frustrates me
