Good thing you don't have to drink alcohol though, right? It's an illusion that it helps with anything, which I am working to remember each day .

I had to read about the phenomenon of craving to understand what it was and how I could overcome it. In the Book it is written in a way a person like me could understand. It opened my eyes and gave me tools to battle craving.

I hope you have the gift of desperation so bad, that you'll try kne thing different and allow the process to work.

Place recovery at the top of your list and marvel at the blessings that come your way.

I felt the same way. There are days when I forget who I was when I was drinking. Quite, isolated and thought I wasn’t hurting anyone. But everyone around you remembers. Sometimes talking to the ones who remember who you were when you drank about what you’re feeling is the best thing you can do. The rooms are so helpful and supportive but we are use to hiding and camouflaging. The rooms help me get up and move but hearing from the ones I love, get me through the cravings or desire to try and drink. Plus, I picked up a hobby that I never thought I would. I puzzles, who would have thought?

Go outside! Take a walk! Notice the beauty of the things around you that you may have been missing in your drinking life.
Get a bag of ice and do a make shift cold plunge in your tub. That has helped me when I thought of how nice a shot would feel. Even a cold shower could restart your thinking.

Lean into the AA program! Meetings, sharing, step work and service are our medicine! Anything else is horse sheeeittt!

I’m constantly dealing with cravings. It’s one vicious and annoying process. If you can give yourself some grace and try to be kind to yourself. I know it’s easier said than done. Of course, if you can get yourself to meetings and talking to your sponsor. The one thing I try to remind myself as I can feel and think whatever I want, but I don’t have to use regardless of how I am feeling or thinking. I know for me distracting myself with something I love can really help. For me it’s listening to music or even coloring or even just watching something funny on TV. You’ve got this. I have faith in you.
