I mess up so much, even in recovery. So thankful for the love and grace I've received from the recovery community that gives me the opportunity to try again and again when things don't go right.
We all mess up. It's all about how we recover and respond to those mistakes. That's what defines us.
Okay
Try to remember- messing up and relapsing are part of the recovery process. Brush the dust off and plod ahead!!!
Is a gratitude post. I've never found love and forgiveness like I have in the recovery community and I'm very grateful for that. This isn't about my mistakes or relapses at all..
Okay, carry on
Thanks Ty. The post was about grace I've been shown in recovery. Not about mess ups. This is a gratitude post
Tracy, I don't know how you are messing up. I take that you're implying that you keep on relapsing?
You never have to drink again. There is a solution. One of the flaws that I see in the modern AA world is the way people take members through the 12 steps. The 12 Steps of AA are designed to transform Our Lives and remove the obsession to drink. The early pioneers of AA used to take people through the steps in four 1 hour sessions.
The 12 Steps of AA are not complicated at all. It's a simple program for complicated people. And if we take these 12 steps the way they were designed for us to take them we never have to drink again.
If you are open to suggestions then my suggestion is that you start going to 90 meetings and 90 days and really get at this thing. Try to get yourself a sponsor who will get you through those steps as fast as possible.
Read the promises that start to come true in our life as a result of taking these steps.
In addition to my long comment above. The reason people keep on relapsing is because they keep on believing the Big Lie;" that this time, everything will be okay. But it never is, is it?
We have to learn to play the scene forward. What happens if you pick up a drink? You pass out and the next day when you wake up, if you wake up, you have more guilt and shame to carry around with you because you realize that you accomplished absolutely nothing.
Drinking is a solution that is no longer working for us. The only option we have is to pick up the tools that are laid at our feet. Those tools are the 12 Steps of AA.
Keep doing it, you have the right mindset. Stay closer to the program before you mess up and you’ll be golden. That’s when the 1000 lbs phone helps.
I know this all too well, I remember never being able to make a solid decision. My significant other always had to make them for me bc I always just felt so stupid to answer bc my answers were always wrong. Even when evidence would be in front of my face, it does get better I promise. And it’s really nice when u finally find ur people who just understand that u mess things up but ur learning and everything ur gonna conquer this too!
As long as you keep trying God will guide you never give up
