Unexpected Friendships

Super grateful for the sober community. I have made 3 really great friendships through Loosid and another handful of supportships through AA.
What I am grateful for most about is that these people don’t judge you by your past. They help and encourage you to keep moving forward and to stay sober. That’s what I love the most!

My name is Katie and I’m an alcoholic. Really glad to be here and extremely thankful to be sober.

Love this Katie!! Ditto on everything you say!! One of the biggest issues we have is loneliness. The fellowship, and the recovery community is truly a solution for us!

I agree 100% Some of the best memories I’ve made have been either while I was sober or with sober people. AND I actually remember the entire time. Lol

That’s awesome!! I hope to find that also! I don’t have much of a support system and never reach out when needed!

I hope you can as well! It’s such a relief. I am not one for reaching out either, but I’ve got my friends who will get on my rear if I don’t.
Sober and still stubborn. Lol
You’ll get there! It’s hard, but it’s worth it.

Try NA or AA if you can. Try it for 90 days. Maybe show up a few minutes early, and hang out a little after the meetings. Try some women only meetings. A few good sober sisters in your life can make a world of difference.

Awesome. That’s great news. It’s a good life if we stay sober, one day at a time.
Yesterday’s history and tomorrow’s a mystery. Live today.

This is true, I have some very good friends over the years in AA , im going down the CoDa rabbit hole now, 13 years no chems or alcohol , not easy lately, lots of family Death and my jobs very lonely, but im my best friend..Luscious

What’s CoDa? (It’s probably going right over my head! Lol)
Keep that communication open, reach out and go grab a bite to eat with someone. Things I’m sure you know already. 13 years is a wammy! Do 13 more and don’t ever look back. Heck, just do 24 hours more and you’ll be in the go. You’ve got this! We are stronger than we know and some times all it takes is a convo with someone to keep us going. :muscle:

Nice to meet you Katie!

Glad you’re here! I’ve got two great friends that are in the area and one who is states away. All three I talk to on the daily. Definitely some great people here on this app. Even more so that they are sober individuals looking for the same thing.

Thanks Katie! I’m happy to be here too. It’s always hard for me to re-accept that I’ve got an issue. So I go through these weird waves where I ignore the sober community cause “I got this” and act like I’m no alcoholic. But then something happens and triggers me and I’m like “I need some good n sober friends or imma drink” :joy:
