Alcohol doesn't pull any punches. And why do you think you relapsed? You picked up because you believed the lie that alcohol tells us; that this time, everything will be okay. But it never is, is it?
As the one gentleman said, there's no need to throw in the towel just because you made a mistake. Be thankful that it wasn't worse than what it is. And whatever remorse you're feeling right now I want you to hold on to that for as long as possible.
Next time you feel like picking up a drink remember this shame that you're feeling right now. We have to learn to play the scene all the way forward. You may feel better for a short period of time but sooner or later you will be right back where you are right now with more shame to carry around knowing that you accomplished absolutely nothing.
You are not the first one that relapsed and you won't be the last one. Back in the 90s I was the king of relapse. So glad that I don't hold that title anymore.
Sobriety and a life that is Happy joyous and free is possible but you have to start right from where you're at right now. Pick a program that works for you. If you continue to relapse then maybe the program isn't working for you. I got sober for Alcoholics Anonymous.
I stayed sober for almost 9 years and then I screwed up in 2011 and it cost me 3 years out there. Now I'm coming up on 9 all over again. Alcoholics Anonymous works if you work the program the way they suggest and ignore all the AA scoffers.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. What you do with it is up to you.
Wow! Thank you for good your story or your message. Today is my last working today, off 2 days. I am going get coffee!
Keep going! Try again find that certain routine that helps you cope you will get there!
At least your honest that’s the most important thing don’t give up
One day or day one, your choice.
