So I made it to my mom’s house safely! It was really good to see her, I know it meant a lot that I came back for the holidays. I had relatively low anxiety during the actual drive, & I’m finishing up wrapping gifts while my mom & stepdad are at church. I threw some cornbread in the oven so they can have that with chili when they get home & I did the dishes, all of which helped me stay busy AND it’ll help them out, so win win! There’s quite a bit of booze in the house, which is unusual. I noticed my stepdad started drinking quite a bit more after my mom had her stroke. But I’m not really feeling any temptation, and I know they’d be happy to remove it from the house if I started getting a craving. So I’ll keep staying honest with myself and doing check ins. Overall, I’m feeling pretty good! I miss my peanut already, but I’ll get to see her before I know it.
This is awesome.
Thank you, Taylor! I’m really proud of myself!🥹
And we are all proud of you too!
My heart just grew THREE SIZES.

Thank you so much!!!! Merry Christmas!!!!
Thankyou for sharing this Rachel.
It sounds like you are developing a new mindset for a productive life.
About the booze; Just remember that any temptation is a big fat lie! It tells us that this time, everything will be OK. But it never is, is it?
Remember to play the scene forward. Consuming some alcohol might give you some relief for a very short period of time. But when it's over with, you'll be right back where you've started at the beginning and you'll be carrying around a lot more guilt knowing that you accomplished absolutely nothing.
Keep doing what you are doing, enjoy the time with your family and remember, Don't believe the big lie!
Happy Holidays to you.
Great post!

Congratulations Rachel! Keep it up. One day at a time!
