Virtual AA

I am thinking of trying AA for the first time and virtual meetings seem less intimidating. Can anyone tell me if they are at all comparable to in-person meetings?

I personally prefer the in-person meetings - it's a different feeling when you're in the room together. However, if you're a little nervous about attending a meeting for the first time or you want to sample a few different meetings -- or that's just a geographic or time issue that makes difficult to attend -- there's nothing wrong with virtual.

What's interesting about virtual meetings is being to join groups from around the world and see how the programs from different perspectives. Maybe you'll be encouraged by what you see (Zoom mtgs are available) or hear or read and decide to attend an in-person meeting.

In person is definitely better.
Online meetings are ok in a pinch if you have no alternative.

Just remember, everyone in that meeting is there for the same reason you are. No need to be intimidated. It’s just people getting together to discuss their solution to their drinking problem.
