That's a hard decision to make, but one that is absolutely worth making. I did the same myself a few years ago and my life did a 180. Finding new friends was still hard, but I have done it. Mostly by finding groups of people with shared interests and backgrounds.

I would be happy to be your sober friend if you'd like! The stronger a support system, the better!
