We Are the Luckiest - used my lunch break to read some of this book and wow this part hits deep
I completely relate to this. It wasn't until everything fell apart that I truly came to believe that my life was unmanageable, that I needed to surrender to my higher power and escape from the cycle of codependency and addiction.
Thank you for the post
Wow! Looks like a good read. Thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing this! I can look back at my last year of using and drinking. Wow! I actually saw how my life was unmanageable. However I didn’t know anything about recovery. I asked my wife at the time for help and told the truth about my addiction.
Some people are not equipped to help us. In my case the help I needed couldn’t have come from my wife (at that time). I needed a power greater than myself to restore me to sanity. And today 2 years 2 months and 26 days later I’m recovered!
I’m proud of my willingness to accept change. To make that change. We Alcoholics are courageous people.
Emm hmm
Is this from We Are the Luckiest?
Yes! You are right. I messed up the title in my post. I’m going to fix it now
lol I haven’t read it in over a year, but it sounded familiar. Love that book. My copy is traveling through my AA community right now.
I get stopped in a meeting and someone asks me if they can borrow it to so and so.
That’s wonderful! I’m actually borrowing this book from a sober friend of mine! We swap recovery/sobriety books with each other
Very good read! Yes the call of desperation got me here. Hitting rock bottom. This disease ends in one of three ways, hospitals, institutions or death. My next stop was death! You are well on your way to a successful recovery! Keep up the great work! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! We all have to start somewhere.
Arianna, I read this tonight at my meeting. We were discussing the gift of desperation as the topic. I remembered your post and it was perfect.
Oh that makes me so happy! Thank you for sharing
