It’s another Saturday. Another day I woke up sober. Not loaded, not hungover, not in a state hospital with little memory of the previous days or weeks. To go from a man who used to constantly be on the hunt for his next fix, a man who had more friends who drank or used than not, a man who would excel at his job just to keep enough resources so I could “live my life,” and party myself into oblivion, to a man who cries at sunsets, to a man who pays his bills on time, a man who shows up at family events, a man who doesn’t hate the man in the mirror- I’m a walking miracle. We all are. Recovery is a gift- and it’s one I won’t throw away. If you are sober today- You are a winner. Hold onto that. And if you’re struggling- don’t give up. Get into a program, do the work, get a sponsor. Freedom is always possible- all it takes is rigorous honesty. Whatever you’re facing today- You can make it. Have a great Saturday.
