We keep eachother sober. We are a family. When i first came into the program i was shy. I was ashamed. I was embarrassed. Almost 6 years later.... Not now!!! Not ever again!!! I am what you call the not so anonymous aa member. I am far from shy about where i came from. I wear my story like a tee shirt for the whole world to see. My story could help someone else who is struggling. My story could make the difference between someone changing there life for ever or going back to numbing their pain and anxiety. Ultimately leading to self destruction. The difference between life or death.

Remember where you came from but don't let it consume you. Know where you are now and let your past be your guide of which paths not to go down. Be proud of what you've overcome. You are a warrior battling demons most people couldn't even think about facing.

1 day or 30 years... We do it one day at a time

Last nights meeting topic was the 12th tradition. It’s intended to promote humility.

Very true and I completely understand that but the 12th step states "Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs." I remember when I first entered the program I felt so alone. I felt like no one understood my pain. I personally choose to be that person who will drop everything to let people who are struggling know that they're not alone.

You are 100% correct. Carrying the message is crucial.
Our group uses the following.
β€œI am responsible. When anyone anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there and for that I am responsible. β€œ
