For me, “drink of choice” wasn’t a brand. It was the effect: relief, silence, a shut-off switch.
The hard part of sobriety isn’t just removing the substance—it’s replacing what it was doing for you. That’s what I’m trying to do now: build a toolbox instead of one big red button.
My toolbox looks like this (imperfectly): writing it out, moving my body, keeping small anchors (sleep/food/meetings), telling the truth to someone safe, and doing one action first instead of debating it in my head.
If you’re comfortable: what “effect” were you chasing?
