You're eating more now because your brain is craving a dopamine rush. Eating food, particularly sweets, temporarily increases dopamine you have lost from quitting cigarettes and drinking. Yes it will get better over time.

Drink water

This is so good to know. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Every bit helps in knowing what drives us.

That’s totally normal. Stay sober and do the 12 stops thoroughly. Yes it will get much better.

Me too
When I was drinking I didn’t care about food
All I wanted booze and cigarettes
6 months free from both and all I want cookies and coffee
If it helps me stay sober it can’t be that bad

I am having the same issue, I WAS sober in the 90s 20 years. I learned that my body & my mind do NOT work 2gether. I believe it's prayer and self discipline. It does get better.

Google high protein clean eating versions of the things you like and replace the sweeets you eat with those things to fix the sugar cravings, get the dopamine rush, and calm your mind about weight gain. As a female i can relate to the "detox gain" and it definitely fucked with my self image a bit at first.

Dont be discouraged if its hard to lose for the first 6-12 months; your body thinks youre going to deprive it again and tries to hold onto everything until it realizes youre consistent.

Some of my favourite snack hacks are:
Chocolate cottage cheese brownies
Protein chocolate chip banana bread
Homemade cottage cheese protein ice cream
Protein cheese cake
Plain Greek yogourt mixed with chocolate protein and chocolate chips

I hope this helps 🫢
