Well 105 days sober today!

Having a bad week! Anyone out there experience PAWS?
What have you experienced? How long does it last? Will I ever feel mentally stable for longer than a couple weeks? Need some advice! Thank you! :two_hearts:

Post-acute withdrawl can last up to 18 months- typically a year. It depends on what you used, how long, and such. The 30, 60, 90 day marks are not by coincidence as I tend to believe the lunar cycle plays a part in healing. Physically in 6-9 months your body will start to balance out with sleep/appetite. But psychologically, it takes much longer for our emotions to level out. In my early days I actually had bipolar symptoms and had to take medication, I was pretty out of whack. Other things like crying spells, anxiety, sleeping not enough or too much. Having sweets helps at night to curb cravings.

Thank you!! This helps a lot!! I have it all! Mood swings, crying spells, feeling blah, and even just sweating sometimes for no reason! I told my husband I think Im bipolar. Lol. This crazy!
I guess PAWS causes many to relapse and start drinking again, however its doing the opposite for me. Its making me realize how truly horrible alcohol is and what it has done to my mind and body. I just keep taking it one day at time and hoping it passes.
I have never been this emotional or had mood shifts likes this in my entire life. I hope it ends soon.
Thanks again!!!! Take care. ◡̈

Good morning Kristi,
You’re doing great! The one thing I can say is that your mindset is on track! We must change the way we think in order to change our old ways.
I too had PAWS and I also had the Pink cloud for almost three months. Learning how to respond and not react to these emotions or state of being plays a huge part of our sobriety. Being open minded to new ideas, tools and making friends or support group is huge for me.
AA has helped me tremendous. Just reading the AA big book has changed the way I think and act. There’s something about that book that has some truth to it.

Congrats!!!

Welcome Kristi, that’s awesome! Keep up the good work. Mood swings will even out the long we stay sober. Eating healthy will definitely help.
Sugar is the hardest addiction to over come. Remember to give yourself a break from time to time. Enjoy the sweet tooth early on as it’s something I had to deal with as well. I was able to cut back a ton after about a year into my sobriety. I no longer eat milk chocolate, or candy bars. I’ll have once in a while ice cream or pie… :joy: sorry if that’s triggering. I’m learn to not let the things we talk about become triggers.
Anyway I’m rambling again…
Have a wonderful day filled love and peace within.
