Well finally after two weeks, I am able to shake

Well finally after two weeks, I am able to shake a bit of this last recovery from a relapse. Really a humdinger mentally especially. Barely able to get out of bed or off the couch. Much self reflection. Learn from my mistakes. Back to my game plan. It works if you work it. Thank you all for your words of encouragement! Much appreciated.

I was almost 6 months sober and relapsed… I had a breakdown. This guy I was dating broke my heart and ghosted me and my ex has turned my second son against me. Trauma and abuse are gateway drugs. I’m trying to get moving forward. I feel alone a lot of the time. I have been a anting to stay in the bed too and I’m not motivated to do much. I’m it working and I definitely think I’m too idle.

I got out of detox on Tuesday and still can't find the will to even go to the store, so I get it. The residual depression is a killer. Have to work tomorrow for the first time in over 2 weeks because I was out sick (drunk and in withdrawal) and I'm not looking forward to it.

Happy to hear you’re feeling better! Those fist few weeks can be rough both physically and mentally. You know what to do. Now just keep choosing sobriety over and over again

Trauma and stress are definitely triggers. I can relate. Married for 30 years in an abusive relationship. Led to alcoholism that I cannot totally cannot rid myself. So, once again starting over. Here for you reach out if you need an ear. We can do this! Stay strong! :muscle:

Thank you! I had a nightmare about my ex and woke up in a sweat this morning. He’s an abuser. PTSD is not a joke. I was also a school teacher for 24 years and I just couldn’t do it anymore … teachers aren’t ok in general

I was in a new job. Got sick then relapsed. Job was a stressor. Had to quit as I had no sick time. Not sure if the old job or finding a new one is more stressful? Be grateful for today, a sober day and a job to go to tomorrow. Need an ear, reach out.

Did you try counseling? I was abused for years. So, I get it. Counseling helps, but like any program takes work. Hang in there, it took me quite awhile to work through it. Still only a blinking thought away. A good old book is Reviving Ophelia. Old, still a great read. Take care of yourself!

Still struggling. Yes, I do know what to do. Just have to get the energy to get the ball rolling again. Happy sober Sunday! :sun_with_face:
