These are not my words but it's exactly how I feel when unfortunately relapse happens...
"Nobody talks enough about how BORING sobriety can be!
When you’ve spent years chasing highs, living in survival mode, running around doing whatever you want, and constantly having some kind of excitement or drama going on… normal life can feel absolutely MISERABLE.
Your ability to experience pleasure is reduced. And it’s something a lot of people experience in recovery. Things that are SUPPOSED to make you happy just… don’t.
You can have your kids back, a good job, money in your pocket, a roof over your head, and STILL feel like something is missing.
And then comes the guilt….
Because you’ve got everything you were begging for when you were at rock bottom, so WHY aren’t you happy? "
Sometimes the hardest part of staying sober isn’t resisting the temptation. It’s learning how to live a life that doesn’t constantly stimulate you…
Because when chaos is all you’ve known, peace doesn’t always feel peaceful.
