Went to Celebrate Recovery (now Choose Recovery) tonight in Fort Myers, Florida

Hey everyone. Hope everyone is doing well! It’s been a whirlwind the past two weeks since my brother passed :frowning: We had his funeral last Monday and although it was VERY HARD, it was an amazing service in his honor . As I mentioned before, my brother passed from a fentanyl overdose the day after he got out of 6months of jail :frowning:

I have been staying at my Dads and his Wifes for the past week.. It is wonderful I have my family to stay with during this difficult time but it has not been easy! Our relationship has not been great and the only reason I’m here is due to the circumstances. It is getting better each day but I’m trying my best to stand my ground about my plans for treatment.. They do not think the program I want to go to is worth it.. I had planned to go a couple days after the funeral but there has been so much going on and I have not been able to go yet..

My Dad has been in recovery for codependency for years now from Celebrate Recovery.. He asked me to go to a meeting tonight and I was happy to. It was really great but WOW, very emotional.. I’ve been to meetings and programs here and there but it really hit me like a tons of bricks with the recent passing of my brother, the struggle I’m going to with Alcohol, and being there with my Dad & Wife.. I think it was a very good thing for us to all do together but I know I can not do my recovery with them. Support is one thing but sharing the same group is another..

I guess I just wanted to give a little update and also share the power of CR, especially those that are religious. I absolutely believe in God but I’ll be honest- it does feel a bit over the top for me with the religion part. Then again, the message feels so much more powerful than the traditional 12-step meetings.. I am hopeful that in rehab there will be plenty of different meetings and I will figure out where I belong. :pray:t3::heart:
