What age did you decide it was enough?

What age did you decide it was enough? Curious to what age you all decided it was enough. I’m 30, almost 31 and pretty much binged since 16/17. Sometimes I think I wasted my entire life but I know 30 is still fairly young. What age did you decide to stop?

At which time? I started pot at age 10 then stopped at 21. Picked it up again at 49. Picked up crack at 53. Addiction is ageless.

I was 21 the first time I got sober, it only lasted a little over a year, I was 28 when I got sober this time around and am 32 now.

I’m 22 and in rehab for the second time. My life was in shambles by age 19.

It was at 38. It was death by drink or choose life. I chose life. I’m thankful for the scare and that the body is amazing and can do so much healing. I never thought this was possible for me as my habit was terribly out of control.

31 for me when I finally stopped and realized if I didn’t stop that I would turn out like both of my parents. I’m 36 now and still sober.

I first got sober at about that age, but it didn’t last. I felt like I was “too young” to never drink again, so I started back up. Didn’t get sobriety for another 20 years. I really wish I had gotten it the first time.

4 days past my 47th birthday.

Admitted that I needed to get sober at 47. It didn’t stick until I was 49.

Quit drinking at 30 after starting at age 15.

At 20 then I picked back up again at 30 then just put back down again at 33 hoping I'm done again for good this time

21 years of active addiction, then I got sober the first time at age 33. Relapsed at age 40, then got sober again (and for what I aim to be my final time) at age 47.

Oh, 26... 36 ... 46 ... still working on it. I WILL succeed this time. No one knew. I finally shared with my best friend. Smartest thing I've done. I'm no longer fighting this alone. Glad we have this place for support as well. Take care, everyone!

Age is irrelevant. Substances know no age. Too many yrs in denial, too many yrs hiding it, a number of black outs and 1 DUI. Mike you have a problem. Fix it or it kill you.

29- I wanted to quit before I turned 30. I severely have cut down my drinking in the past two years… but whenever I start again or try to drink in moderation it just escalated to the point I’m calling in sick to work and have to lie about having “stomach issues”
Now I’m almost 31 and I don’t want to moderate or have the occasional drink, I need to be done completely. I’d rather do it now than wait until I lose everything, because I could very easily see that happening someday down the road if I drink anymore. Wish I would’ve started questioning my drinking a lot sooner!
