What are the best jobs for people in recovery?
Paying one...sorry for the sarcasm. On a serious note, any job that normalizes addiction is not a good choice. That can be an office job or a road work job. I've been a chef most my life. Every kitchen I've been in, all they talk about is getting wasted when they get off and many don't wait till then. I would say food service isn't a good place for New to recovery.

Yes I agree with the food service part. So no bars, restaurants, liquor stores, drug stores or any of the like. Through gas stations in there too and babysitting, nanny jobs, house sitter, or housekeeper because you might have a customer w a real yummy looking stash! This is a hard one.
Any job around alcohol would be a bug no no in my book. I do know a lot of recovering nurses tho. They deal with drugs although even in their situation they are heavily monitored. Other than that, go for it. Ahh, maybe not working at a pot dispensary also. Lol

I work as a clinician for a behavioral health organization. I help people who are inpatient residential clients with mental health and substance abuse issues. Best job I've ever had even though it pays less than what I used to do..don't care..its so rewarding and fun...I do see people come in and they are bad off but its not a trigger its a reminder of what it could be for me and then to watch them get bitter and healthy...nothing like it in the world

Yes I want to do something like that but I’m too old to back school and I have multiple degrees.
In business. I need to start a business I think. Maybe a frozen yogurt shop. There’s one for sale that I have been looking at. It sounds really boring and too easy but it makes money and it’s close to home.
What I do, you don't need a degree or experience. I had no experience in the field..I started out entry level...doing intake of clients, setting up clients for medical, setting up a bed and room etc. Some people work there and also are doing substance abuse counseling school and some are not. I'm good where I'm at...I have a degree in Economics but I'm not going back to school either. Look for behavioral health organizations in your area. Look at there websites, that's what I did and just applied and they gave me a job

I work in senior living. While there are alcohol and prescription drugs around, I have not been tempted. It is rewarding work with a great schedule. I’m director of dining. Our director of sales is sober too.

Hi Wedad! I’m a little late to the party, but I wanted to give my two cents. I’m a contract analyst and I love my job, I got it when I was 11 mos sober. Now we are work from home and it is even better because I get to have micro breaks to have a better work life balance. I would say any office job would probably be good, as long as the coworkers aren’t heavy drinkers or if there is a drinking culture in the office. I would just be honest with them about your sobriety and disinterest in being in drinking social scenes.
