What do YOU do to practice self care???
Unfortunately not enough. Throughout the week I do listen to podcasts to help keep my mental awareness in check. I did extremely well with balancing everything my first year of sobriety, these last 2 years I’ve let work completely take over. Hoping to jump back on the self care train of working out, eating healthy and spending more time outside:)
Like Jeff, not enough. Gotta refocus.
I take time in silence to breathe deeply and allow myself to just be and be present w/ myself in the moment and in gratitude. It’s the simple hard.
From there I ask myself what can I do to CARE for me.
Long walks in nature, yoga, music, meditate, breathing exercises, hot showers, doing my hair and makeup, lay in bed, shop, read, garbage reality tv shows.
Meetings
Cancel plans if I feel it necessary and within a reasonable time frame, leave my phone at home when I am running errands, watch my favorite shows, get manis and pedis, and buy me a new dress.
I sit on my patio to be with nature, watch crime shows, take a walk, get my nails done, go to therapy, try to journal. I need to start practicing yoga and meditation.
I'm still in Discovery. So I listen to myself, my body, my mind. I do Kia yoga (that's my nickname lol). I talk to myself... Out loud on purpose. I cry because I can. I practice putting the hammer away and beat myself with a feather. I try to help someone Every Single Day.... That is priceless to me
I place my sobriety above everything else in my life. It comes before work, relationships and family. Without my sobriety, I can’t be any good to anyone or anything else. Prayer, meditation and self-examination. These things are all of the self care I need today.
Nap, guided meditations, massage, journal, give myself permission to not do anything.
