What exactly does being of service mean to you?
Making sure the hand of AA is always extended from me.
To encompass everything, it means spreading God’s love. It’s showing compassion and kindness. It’s helping folks in need. It’s inspiring people. Not inspiring people to be a fan of mine. It’s inspiring them to be a better version of themselves.
From a recovery perspective I pitch in to the AA program wherever I can. I’m GSR for one group, treasurer for two others. I guest chair when they need me to. I sponsor. Pick people up if they need a ride. Be there for someone, when they need to talk. You know stuff.
Even posting on this app can be of service. You yourself Tommy commented on something I posted a day or so ago and it was very positive and helpful, that’s service too. Thanks.
I don’t sponsor but I do reach out to people who are new and if they need, be there for them. One member and I do step work together. We are of service to each other. It can be that simple.
For me it’s being available to anybody needing help, in whatever capacity that means. More specifically, at this time it’s checking in with sober women through text, commenting on posts on this app, attending TLC meetings and reaching out when people ask for help.
