What gives you hope?

What gives me hope is when I hear, at a meeting, the despair one goes through. Then the solution they used. Which has given them results beyond their wildest dreams.

I was hopeless. I wanted death. All the noise in my head was driving me mad. Something inside me changed the day I was served a restraining order. I checked myself into treatment that was the first day I had gotten honest with myself in a very long, long time. Since then the honesty has unfolded into a way of living. Taking inventory, prayer, meditation, making right all of my wrongs, and helping others regardless if it impedes in the fun things I want to do. This to me is the beginning to true freedom from a powerlessness over Alcohol. “Thy will be done”

Outside of my faith, hope comes from the record of my past. I see the times all h€ll broke loose, then I see how it always got better. I may have had to worked on it, but nothing is repairable

Hope to me, is being able to look in the mirror and not completely hate the guy looking back. Seeing the smile on my kids faces. The joking and laughing with my wife.

Love it Steve! Thank you

Tim I totally understand what you’re saying here! I too couldn’t stand looking at the man in mirror! Today I can say I love the man in the mirror! I’m grateful for how I look, think, act, and give love as well as receive love.

You all are giving me hope. I haven’t looked in the mirror in years. I see an eye or a nose or lips but haven’t seen my whole face in years. Even when not drinking. Still cannot look at me. I hope I get what you all have found.

Cathy!!! The secret to what we found is in the inventory we took. It’s also in the amends we made. Grab some paper, a pen, and write down your resentments, fears, and sexual conduct. The share it with another person and God. Take that same list and write down who we harmed.
With each amends your face becomes more and more visible.

When I was completely hopeless I was told this...

"Every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future."

That changed my life forever. That gave me a sense of hope that I never had before.

Everything I have now that I didn’t have 6 months ago as far as my health, support, spiritual growth, career. In less than a year I never thought my life would improve so much and I can’t imagine how much better it will be when I continue this path

Kevin! Great name by the way!
:joy:
Now that’s hope right there! 6 months into a program of action and you’re reaping the rewards!

I have a sponsee that’s getting the same thing right now! He’s got 4 months now. Making amends, getting a new job, charges getting dropped! Checking in daily with me. It’s actually giving me hope!

Keep up the good work my friend!

Oh yeah, this brings back memories for me, I gave so much love but had zero love for me. Plus the love I gave turned into resentments if I didn’t get what I wanted.
Today, I want nothing in return for my love towards all.

Spread the love my brother! Love yourself first. The leftovers will pour over unto those around you.
