What other options are there besides AA? I'm still showing up to AA meetings bit I'm curious to what other options may be at there
Hey! Check out the Phoenix! They are international and have in person and virtual events that are free with 48 hours of sobriety! They have an app! Just search “a sober community phoenix” in your app market and it should come right up. Rise. Recover. Live. Huge part of my life transformation and journey!
Smart Recovery has meetings in person and zoom meetings.
This app. That is all ya need.
SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma, Sober Faction, LifeRing, TSM, and Young People In Recovery are some of the bigger ones that I've heard of. Here in Utah there's also a recovery advocacy group that hosts some smaller coffee, yoga, fitness, medication, meditation, walking, etc. based support groups as well, which you might be able to find where you're at. There're also apps like this one and I Am Sober, and several recovery groups on Reddit and other places online.
For in person meetings it’s all dependent on location. I live in a small town where AA is my only option. Smart recovery meetings would mean an hour drive each way, so I stick with AA.
The ONLY requirement is a desire to stop drinking. The steps are a SUGGESTED program of recovery. Don’t let anyone tell you different, it’s read at each meeting.
I’ve also heard smart is a good program
I'm a satisfied member of Narcotics Anonymous. If drugs, including alcohol, were ever a part of your story, may I suggest that you give it a look? Also, it's been suggested that one should attend six meeting of any fellowship before making any judgements or decisions. Thanks.
Good to know of These options!
Every group out there is some sort of version of the 12 steps of AA. My advice is keep drinking/using until you hit "desperation" mode. You'll try AA then. Only way I would try it
Smart recovery, all recovery
