What’s a good comeback to someone who continually comments on

Exactly, just straight up ask them, what's their problem with you being sober.

Passive aggressive “oh honey, I didn’t mean anything by it”

Projection. It’s when someone takes their own weakness and shortcomings and turns it on you. They drink too much. They know it. Your quitting threatens their addiction so they lash out.

Look this person dead in the eye and invite them to your next meeting so they can see the beauty of recovery for themselves.

I have a cousin who drinks like I used to. Whenever we see each other he offers to sneak me a beer. Lol. I just told him if he ever wants to learn how I stopped, I’ll be there.

Ask them why they have to have alcohol to celebrate :champagne: Alcohol is the only intoxicant you have to defend not using!

I get everyone's tired of hearing about your recovery. At first I talked about it, now I just live it. I believe there just jealous that I'm doing me and better. Keep it up your not alone.

Diff is, I never talk about it, never announced anything . I’m doing me and she’s being nosy

Yea I was just giving what I did. I thought that's what everyone wanted. I didn't stay sober till I did it for me. Nosey peeps are tricky. Sometimes you just gotta say STFU and mind your own life.

"I prefer being boring to being a drunken belligerent idiot, but that's just me."

"If being boring means I'll remember every moment of this tomorrow, I'm ok with that."

When my colleagues used to ask why I wouldn't go have drinks after work if tell them, "eh, when I drink I make bad decisions and hurt people I care about, so it's in everyone's best interest if I stick with water."

Or my personal favorite; a raised eyebrow with a side of silence and a change of topic.

Stick to your guns and hold your water glass high my friend

Spit in their eye. Honestly it bothers me to the core when people make comments like that.

Go fly a kite in an electric storm, with a key tied to it, make sure your hands are wet and your standing in a puddle.... Usually works for me.

Let it roll off.. maybe they're dealing with their own battle secretly :woman_shrugging: I dooo like to brag about how great I feel though
