What’s in your toolbox?

New here. Day 13 for my second try (last 36 day stretch ended with one drink and then a two month bender). Grateful for the silver lining of getting to know my imperfect but persistent, hopeful, gentle and kind self. The gentle and kind part, I’m working on shining on myself now. So what is in your toolbox? AA just isn’t for me, but these are my top resources and sobriety tools:
*This Naked Mind App- 30 day sobriety challenge and community (along with TNM book and videos)
*Tempest has a cost but I found a coach who changed my life
*routines!! Not a morning person but I now start every day with a mindful moment, quick walk and yoga, Lemon water. I’m working on an evening routine.
*books (my fav was “Quit like a woman” and it got me started on helpful routines)
*podcasts
*journaling
*Allllll the soda water with lime!

Meditation is a great way to start healing your brain. Also a gratitude journal. I write. Few things in mine every night. Keep going! :two_hearts:

Add some sober social activities (maybe your morning workout). Isolation isn't recommended, but honestly I isolate and sober 9 months.

If you're not seeing someone to talk to from a mental standpoint I'd highly recommend. I hated the idea, but now I look forward to that 1 hr/week

I’m not judging, but maybe you just haven’t found the right meeting. Connections are vital to staying sober and I believe AA provides that. If you have good insurance look into a Vivitrol injection once a month. Game changer for me.

Coping skills, sponsorship, prayer & meditation definitely gratitude list, I can go on. Better yet, I’ll reach out & or share about where I’m @ in my recovery process.

Coloring. No matter how basic or detailed. It’s that you’re doing something that asks for your creativity and what ever drawing/coloring medium you choose to use. I also construct a blanket fort once in a while and stop being an adult for a bit…:relaxed:

Love it!

I totally agree that connections are key! AA may not be for me but I’ve found online communities and better relationships and it’s working for me. I’m so glad AA works for others. There are some aspects I just don’t agree with philosophically, but I know it’s made immeasurable impact for so many. I think there are different paths, and I found one that is working for me. I’ll keep seeking if I need to in the future.

You bet! Anytime. Hope it helps!:hugs:
