What’s something that you absolutely do not miss being sober?

I like having money now.

I don’t miss arguments. they are almost non existent now. I also don’t miss all the pain, regret, and anxiety it caused

I always wondered what the trash guy thought when the bag that was jam packed only weighed like a pound because it was all cans.

I love not planning my life around my party schedule, having hangovers, always being angry, and the anxiety.

Loving this thread. I COMPLETELY forgot about the dry heaves when brushing my teeth.

I don't miss being exhausted every day because I didn't sleep rather than just black out a few hours!
I don't miss wondering what I did in those dark hours.
And I don't miss being angry at the birds for chirping in the morning that seemed to be so loud and annoying.
They're really kinda pleasant when you're not loathing in self hatred and insomnia.

Gout and other weird maladies I never had in my twenties. LOL

Everything! The hangover and trying to mask them, lack of energy, planning my life around alcohol, waking up with anxiety attacks, night sweats, the smell seeping out of my pores, acne… the list goes on.

I don’t miss being woken up trying to gasp for breath because of acid reflux from all the wine. :face_vomiting:

I do not miss figuring out how to sneak alchol with me everywhere i went, even places where drinking was going on, because beer just wasent enough. It went from always wanting to drink, to having to drink so withdrawals wouldn't start almost immediately.

I don’t miss trying to figure out how I got home.

Being in my Motorcycle club

I don’t miss having to plan my days around using, recovering, planning my use. Being sober allows me to be present

That edgy driving all encompassing need from which I have no escape and no control. I hear my addiction still several times a day, but 8 years sober the difference is I recognize it's voice, I know where it will lead and I choose to ignore it. As long as I do that I am free from it. I have a choice.

Planning everything around my problem and apologizing for the things I did that I don’t remember, I’m finally me

My mom passed away I miss her but not her bullshit arguments!!!

The waking up every couple hours with whole body shakes and ‘Charlie horses’ and having to drink a few to go back to sleep…rinse lather repeat…

The shakes, the sweats, etc. making excuses why I was drinking plus lying to people that I wasn’t drinking when I was. Now, I have more energy and restored my relationship with God.
