What’s something that you absolutely do not miss being sober?

What’s something that you absolutely do not miss being sober? For me, I am so relieved to stop managing how I threw out the bottles and got rid of everything. I’ll spare you my addict logic, but it was a full time job deciding what to do with the empties. I love not having that thought process take up space in my brain anymore.

I do not miss the hangovers from booze. I do not miss the paranoia, comedowns, and mood swings from meth. I do not miss going nowhere in life, I do not miss the disappointments caused, I do not miss not being able to be myself.

In other words, I really love my sober life.

I don’t miss the panic, self hate, fear, physical beat down my body always felt.

I don’t miss opening the mirror cabinet in the bathroom because I couldn’t stand looking at myself

Just this morning looking in hindsight, i was thinking abt the depth and intensity of the guilt, shame, remorse, etc and how "stupid" i must have looked or seemed to others. I shook my head to myself, and said, oh my goodness, I CANNOT believe i said that, i CANNOT believe i resorted to that.
But thank God im here, i never imagined that God would answer my prayer but i forgot no matter what, He always does, He doesnt like what we do, but He loves us us unconditionally!

Amen to that I was the same way with empties

Ugh… I can relate. Three and a half years later, I’m still finding empties. Did some spring cleaning in my attic a couple weeks ago, opened a drawer and found some empty minis. I sure don’t miss the insanity!

I do not miss the double life. The time and energy I spent covering up my issues was in itself an addiction. I’m so grateful to have a choice today. The freedom is beautiful

I don’t miss waking up with feelings of regret, hungover then trying to put on a happy face at work. I also don’t miss finding airport bottles of whiskey hidden everywhere.

Not spending the next day with the shakes and checking my phone to see if I said anything stupid over texts is pretty nice. Having to worry about people around me seeing me for the drunk that I was, is also good.

Driving to town again to get more alcohol. We live out in the country. I always had to drive at least 30 minutes

Extreme Emotional highs and lows. I feel much more balanced and able to process emotion more clearly. I feel it, then let it go. When I was drinking, this was a challenge. I was never regulated.

Being broke, $$$

Constantly being in a state of self-pity and bitching about everything in my life to anybody who was forced to listen. I was quite insufferable and we all know misery loves company.

I do not miss dry heaving every time I brushed my teeth.
