What to do when ur sober but got depression
Not a great answer but I use CBD and some alt cannabinoids.
Meditation, yoga nidra, routine, yoga, gratitude lists, reading quit lit, setting intentions for the day, listening to music. So many choices, you got this Miah!
I found therapy and writing to be immensely helpful. If you’re able to talk to a therapist, I would definitely suggest doing so. Sending love your way!
Stay sober. Drugs and alcohol make it so much worse. Working out for endorphins really does help too
Gratitude. What’s one thing you are grateful for? Think of another. Focus on them. Depression often comes from self pity. Self pity and gratitude can’t occupy the same space.
I needed to see this right now. Thank you. Well said. Namaste
Try to create something and remember there is no right or wrong in art, I taught myself how to “macrame”, how to make resin jewelry , and now I am learning how to weave dreamcatchers. All you need is a little desire to create. It will give you a great satisfaction - I promise.
Check out this song by Ray Riley Hubbard “Mother Blues”
The last line of the song is - the days that I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, I’ve had a good day.
Just remember that our feelings are temporary! They come and they go! We decide what we feel! Think positive!
I’d recommend going to therapy if you aren’t a already, and potentially getting on anti depressants if you need them. They won’t completely make depression go away, but I found that they make me feel more like myself than I ever have and make my depression sooo much more manageable.
In addition imma parrot what others have said: finding hobbies, being active, spending time w friends, meditation, etc.
Another thing I found incredibly helpful was to change my relationship to my depression. Part of it is my brain chemistry, and another part of it is due to past traumas and a general malaise about much of what’s going on in the world. I stopped being hard on myself when feeling down because there are reasons for it and it’s an opportunity to discover what some of your underlying needs are/become closer to yourself and others. You got this!
See a doctor.keep it simple.
