What you think? Is alcoholism pre determined through genetics, or developed, or both, explain answer. Thanks.
A bit of both I'm sure
I think that, then I'm like why can my brothers have great time doing it. It's a complex disease.
It's hard to explain. Genetically we are predisposed to become an alcoholic. This means our genes are made so we are more likely to become an alcoholic than someone else. That doesn't mean it's absolutely going to happen. There is so much more involved. Simply put Gene's don't force you to take that first drink or continue after that.
If you want to learn more read Alcohol Explained by William Porter it's easy to read and understand what alcoholic does to keep you addicted. Gillian Tietz has a website, podcast and YouTube channel she talks about different topics related to alcoholism
Thank you. I will check it out.
It’s Noah’s fault. We all come from him. Read what the first thing he did was off the Ark. But of course no one really believes that stuff.
Lol. Right on.
That's where the other issues come in to play. Both my brother's have drinking issues. 1 admits it the other not. They both handle it well and outwardly you couldn't tell. Me because of life situations wound up depressed and used alcohol to cope. My downfall to full on alcoholism. I am a retired blackout artist and sober just over a yr
I have trouble reading and understanding the Bible
Where in the Bible is that.
I was given the nick name squirrel because I disappear black out and end up in random places. I'm now 88 days sober after starting over for the third time.
I actually don't know. I googled
Maybe. Before I saw your post I wrote about addiction in my family
Like to read if possible
I’m reading something now that says no genetic correlation just more your exposure to seeing family members deal with their problems by abusing alcohol
The problem is my thinking. If I think about this question then I begin to justify the answer. I’m alcoholic because I have an allergy to alcohol. Maybe that’s genetic. But I also have a obsession of the mind. I love to think about stuff! Make up stories that aren’t true about life. Then there is the spiritual malady. I completely didn’t believe in a power greater than me. I thought (there goes that thinking problem) that I did everything. It was all me. No one else helped me.
It’s a very weird disease. Very deadly.
I’m grateful I’m an alcoholic. I’m grateful there is a solution that works for me. My life isn’t easy, it’s way better then what it was.
Inventory, clean house, help others. Repeat often.
Our code is love and tolerance of others.
I love the code you said. Love and tolerance
Both
Probably a bit of both but now we have the constant barrage from the media machine to drink. Drinking is slick looking now, "craft beer" blah blah blah and all that buIIshit. It's no longer dirty old man Pabst Blue Ribbon. There is a perfectly packaged beer/drink out there for everyone, the marketing behind it all is REAL.
I am using both of them now after you suggested it for me. I can honestly say I appreciate the site soberpowered.com as well as alcohol explained.
I believe all of the Bible
