As a child, we are told things to believe, that life is full of blue skies and sun filled days.
Picket fences and picture perfect families,
Jobs that build for retirement and show you there's a finish line to cross.
A moment of peace and sense of accomplishment,
But what's life all about?
Growing up my childhood was full of pain and dark days,
That eventually turned into blackness and regrets.
Broken hearts, unfilled promises, wrong turns and people who only made me bitter.
Trust that caused resentment and promises without action behind them.
What's life all about?
It's about knowing how to fake a smile and pretend the grass is green,
Helping others but not being there for yourself.
Bad decisions that just set you back and falling deeper into the abyss.
A moment of clarity when you realize your walk is alone.
No one to guide you and show you a better way,
Disappointment to keep you closed so no one ever gets in.
But what's life all ABOUT?
Life is what you make it.
If black clouds and troubled times are your destiny,
Then just embrace it.
Stop fighting for a future that isn't possible,
Just believe that happiness is not meant for you.
Close the door behind you and make sure it never opens again.
