When a tear drops, does anyone hear it land?

All my life, I have been told, "A man doesn't cry!" So much so that no matter what, I refused to cry even through a broken arm, head full of stitches, and so many more painful instances in which I have seen others bawl. I simply could not allow myself to cry. I wouldn't shed a tear. There were so many battles, so many hurts, so many pains. No tears for me. Now, in this world of sobriety, the pain of dealing with my addiction is so overwhelming that I have to ask, "When a tear falls, does anyone hear it land?"

Yes. It’s okay to cry. It’s a most wonderful feeling when it is over. Acceptance. Accept what you cannot change! Amen

I think we all feel that way here...I've drank/used for so long to not feel anything. Sobriety can be OVERWHELMING emotionally

I feel so bad for so many men.
Yes.
Women hear sh-tty, toxic messages…while y’all are not supposed to cry and sh-t.
Ugh.
So effed up!

Society overall just s-cks.
All of these awful messages.
Cry your brains out.

No. They just run down our faces.
Suppressing emotions is unhealthy. We have to feel the feelings. Keep staying sober and getting to meetings. More will be revealed.
