When do people normally start to feel better? I'm only 11 days sober. Does anyone have any tips for me to help on this journey of sobriety?
I donât think thereâs a set timeline, or at least the timeline is different for each person. Remind yourself daily of the positives sobriety has given you (better mental clarity, more energy, etc, whatever those positives are for you!). Best of luck!
Usually in a bout a week my sleep improves, and at 30 days I feel really good.
Things that help me are exercise, healthy foods, and sunlight.
If you feel bad, tea with honey helps the symptoms as well.
Stay strong man, it's worth it!
I think it all depends on what you were abusing, how much and for how long. After drinking beer daily for 30 years, it took a couple months to feel good and somewhat â normalâ
The longer you are sober the better youll feel. Things will improve slowly over time.
Sucking on hard candies will help. Also, finding a hobby to take your mind off not using or drinking. Like walking, or going to the gym. Journaling. Reading a book. Do something different. For instance, if you stayed up all night using, go to bed at an early hour. If you woke up at noon or 1 oâclock wake up at seven in the morning itâs about doing things different, keeping your time filled with something to take your mind off drinking and using, and when those thoughts come, think about something different. A thought takes 17 seconds to gain momentum. So if you catch it before it takes route, it will help.
Just keeping it one day at a time. Sometimes hour by hour. Journal your thoughts in your phones memo pad or my favorite with a pen and paper. Do some đ§ââď¸ itâs relaxing. Listen to other recoveries of alcoholics on Youtube. Or itâs a place on here with recordings. For me it took a few months.
Lots of juice and vitamins has always been my go-to. You need to replace what you have stripped yourself from. As far as sleep melatonin or a doctor's script of something. I would start with natural melatonin the smaller the milligram the most effective dose. Good luck and be relentless!
The first couple weeks is more or less a detox period. Dopamine levels might go up and down as they balance out. Itâs different for everyone but I watched a vid on YouTube itâs called âQuitting Alcohol Timeline: What to Expect in Weeks 1â3â if youâd like to check it out. Proud of you!
Thanks Jason
