When does it end?

I messed up again, as per usual. I can go 2-3 days not drinking & then I drink again. I am scared of the withdrawals! I’ve taken naltrexone & that makes me so sick that I missed work! Besides AA & stuff like that, what are other options?

Well substance abuse disorder is a federaly protected disability. Meaning, you can take FLMA for job protection and go to a inpatient treatment center. Although expensive, this is covered by insurance.

I consulted my PCP about my options. I strongly recommend you do the same.

I remember how scared and alone i felt. Ask for help and take action.

My job was very adamant about filling out paperwork for FMLA, but I don’t have insurance only government insurance but FMLA takes a while to kick in so I’m scared about that. We don’t have much money. I’ll have to look into it more though. My job is very understanding about my bipolar but not my alcoholism I haven’t told them about that nor does it say in my paperwork

I definitely feel scared & alone right now

I went into treatment. Then did the paperwork in treatment for FLMA. My mindset was get help first figure the job stuff out later. The facility i was at help me with this.

In my state, government insurance is income based. So in this scenario, while you were in treatment your income would be $0, and thus treatment would be 100% covered or close to.

Help first, job second! Its scary as (insert appropiate word that is being censored) but worth it.

Thank you so much! Because I need help right now

The advice my PCP gave me was. Wasnt advice at all but an action plan. Here it is:

Go online google treatment centers in your area pick 3 that sound like what you want or looking for. Then call them and talk to them and ask questions. Like: billing assistance/ FLMA help, program type, length, type of treatment.

Just take it at one day at a time even if you have to break it down into hours at a time. Think to far ahead can be dangerous to our recovery. When the urges surface call someone, bake, take a nap, go for a walk. I had many 2 or 5 days dry then went back and this was the suggestion that was gave to me, even after 24 yrs I still live by this, recovery is possible
