When I first decided to quit drinking, I was so worried about how to spend time with my friends and family (all of whom drink) because I thought it would be weird or they would be distant or I would feel isolated or not involved. But I have been so pleasantly surprised with how supportive my friends/family have been about me not drinking- I wish I hadn’t spent so much time being worried about it.
Example: Every Christmas, my parents and I have cinnamon rolls and mimosas- family tradition! I just spoke to my mom and she was so excited to tell me that her and my dad found a non-alcoholic mimosa drink they were going to make for all of us this year
Maybe people around me are just sick of always drinking when they’re with me lol. But it’s really cool to feel like my sobriety isn’t just “tolerated” it’s like- embraced.
(As I typed this I realized it’s probably because everyone else isn’t as single-mindedly obsessed with alcohol as I am so it’s not a big deal lol
Duh)
