There are other groups. I prefer the Dharma groups… sounds like you are in a sort-of transition to your next level. That’s exciting!!! I’m super excited for you! You are ready for the sober relationships and sounds like you are in a place of strength. You know what you are looking for and what you want to avoid, wow, cool next chapter!! Keep us updated!!

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. My first year was all meetings and commitments. I really had no clue what sober people did for fun and honestly didn’t feel that comfortable hanging out with people sober. I love meetings, and I continue to go to them so I can find people who really want to get sober that could benefit from my experience. Of course I have friends from AA etc. but I needed more from life than that.

So I started to try different hobbies and activities. Mountain biking, surfing, archery, motorcycle riding, motorcycle racing, dirt bike riding, electric bike riding, electric skateboarding, hiking, golf, drone piloting, cooking, photography, and concert going. I had fun. Thank God because I needed to have fun sooo badly. I kept working, going to meetings, and helping others get sober but I found balance and joy in my life. And then, finally through this balance of life I attracted like minded people who I now enjoy spending time with.

Don’t you ever let yourself become defeated mentally. Find what you want by knowing with every fiber of your existence that it is there for you, that you deserve it, and it will be yours. It’s up to you to make your life so dam good inside and out that people look at you and see something they gotta have. And finally give what it is that you seek. This means be a friend to as many people as you can - help them and be giving of yourself. It’s a big beautiful world out there just waiting for you filled with people who want to have fun!!
