When my boyfriend called me the day after my blackout

When my boyfriend called me the day after my blackout night, to rip me apart and break up with me, he said very early in, and multiple times, “You’re 52 years old . “, implying what a shame it is to be this old and drinking like this, and also that I would never change. When I said “this will never happen again”, he kept saying “BS”. I am deeply shamed I am so old and didn’t get sober before this and that there is 0% faith in me. I have come so far with many difficulties/heartaches/ traumas in my life and have been told by many how proud they are of me . Yet I am overwhelmed with shame that “I’m 52”, and he has no faith in me. We were together 14 months . I have to work on forgiving myself. It is going to take forever.

Keep the faith in yourself you WILL make it

Trust has to be built. It takes time. I am 48, sober for less than 2 years… age has nothing to do with getting sober. It is the if I knew then what I know now scenario. Don’t waste time looking behind you.. you are not going that way.

I have been going through something similar & just do your best day by day to keep busy. Eat right. Try to get good sleep. It is hard I sunk into a depression for over 2 weeks lost weight sober but wasn't living healthier. Forgiving yourself is the hardest part but just remember that wasn't u that was the alcohol . You gotta let go of whatever u did in order to grow.

It's still a fresh wound. It will take time, but you can't worry about his acceptance of your apology. You need to get better or you will just keep doing the same thing over and over again.
