When simply " not doing " isn't enough 😒

I'm not drinking. I'm not using. Shouldn't that be enough ? Haven't we all felt this way at some point in our recovery ? Then eventually the not doing proves to not be enough. My counselor told me many times " In order to keep it, we must give it away " In the early stages of my recovery I didn't really understand this idea. As time passed it became clear. Being in service to others is the key. So go to meetings. Be there for others. I can't help but feel that isn't enough. If the way to finally being rid of anxiety, stress, depression and all the other uncomfortable feelings is to be in service to others where is the best place to start this next chapter of sobriety ?

Dion, service is one of the essential elements to sobriety. However, there are other factors that are essential too.
Service in the sober community is a vital component. I started by helping at the meetings and then sponsorship. My service extends to anyone that wants and needs my help.
The other pillars to my sobriety are meditation daily, continual step work, and living with the principles that I learned here in all my affairs.
I hope this helps.
