When you are fiending for a drink, whats the best

When you are fiending for a drink, whats the best way to stop wanting or thinking about it. The temptation is always there but how do i cope not to drink. They say wait 20 minutes and it goes away but those 20 minutes feel like forever and it gets stronger and stronger.... any suggestions?

For me, sometimes it helps to think of the worst hangovers. If that doesn't help I think about how it would feel to get stuff done the next day with a massive hangover.

Try 30 seconds at a time.
Try working with others
Try something other than what you're currently doing.

I started dancing like I know how to dance, but I really don't. No music, people (family mostly but have done this in a semi public setting and had people join me for absolutely no reason). Sometimes, I make myself look as ridiculous as I can, because the thought of me wanting a drink is ridiculous lol

I have felt this many times. I will take my favorite whiskey glass, pop some ice into it (just like always) and mix up a mocktail. Gives me that ritual - without the booze.

I do love the idea, and it makes perfect sense. Just easier said then done, but I appreciate the response

Thats a very good idea, I always say I will but then lie to myself and screw myself over

Lol that's pretty funny not going to lie

I find when I do that it makes me want it more. Honestly I dont the same thing but put pepsi in it and somehow things start to feel better, maybe the fizz im not sure

Key is to replace the bad with something good. That negative internal feeling can be made into an external positive. You would be amazed how fast you smile and forget about wanting the drink
