When you drank a lot have you guys ever get this bad heartburn if it’s even that every like 20 mins sometimes and everyday . If so has it gone away ?
I had bad heartburn all day everyday. HAD to have Tums with me wherever I went. It went away completely within a a few days of quitting drinking and never came back.

I had heartburn for almost a month, haven't taken a Tums since and it's been 7 months now heartburn free

Yes, like acid reflux and now I don’t have it at all. Crazy what it does to our bodies that we overlook.

If it’s that bad you should see a doctor. Sounds like you may need some medication and maybe an endoscopy. Untreated acid reflux can lead to esophageal damage and cancer. BTW I am a board certified GI nurse.

Absolutely. I was on medication for heartburn when I drank. Once I quit (and especially after quitting smoking) it miraculously just stopped.
I don't even keep tums in the house anymore

Yes. It’s because there are sphincters in our esophagus that loosen with alcohol consumption, not keeping down stomach acid effectively. It will most likely never go away while drinking. I detest heartburn. It cleared right up in sobriety, though. Just once in a blue moon if I eat too richly.

After getting sober - off prescription meds for heartburn snd hiatal hernia. 100% better.

Oh yes remember those days. Heartburn, vomiting, which probably caused the heartburn, but just drank more. So thankful to not be there anymore. Now I look forward to my coffee and breakfast (which now i actually keep down). I think the best thing is no more fog. Thank god. Very alert now.
