You can stop by hanging out with the people that use or drink!
It’s so hard to let go of all we know and walk away to start a life of the unknown. It makes us feel so alone on the journey in the beginning. For me that is why it was so important for me to make meetings speak up ask for help and connect. I know who I was around when active was not working and I had to want to do this more then I wanted them around. The change has to be in me. And who knows attraction rather then promotion them just seeing you do what needs to be done may plant a seed for them. Best of luck out here

I used everything (poly addict) so my DOC is everywhere. I had to change my entire life at 48 or I was going to die. After that many years I didn’t know any sober people. 6+ years clean, still extremely lonely but alive and sober. Don’t wait until you ‘have’ to quit. Rebuilding a life is hard without family or support.
I haven’t seen my family in 5 years because of their alcohol use. We need to come first.
