Why do I talk to random people when drunk but not when sober?
It is much easier to talk to people when you are drunk because you have a social lubricant. The problem is by doing so, you will come to rely on drinking in order to socialize. One of the beautiful things about being in recovery is you don't only learn how to quit drinking but you learn why you drank in the first place, which comes down to fear. Once you have identified your fears and learn how to deal with them through the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous you will learn how to be comfortable living a sober lifestyle and be able to talk to as many people as you want! Being single, it was always difficult for me, but when I got sober, I started using sober dating apps and found its so much easier to talk to someone who shares my common bond. Dating in sobriety and meeting sober singles does not make me nervous at all.
