Why do really drink (or use)? I always used stress or depression as an excuse, but ive realized that wasent the always the case, i just enjoyed it and thought nothing bad could happen to me. I built a good life, got married, good job, brand new house and nice things. Well thats all gone now because of my drinking. Now i had an "excuse" to keep drinking and even heavier. I wasent feeling well and was turning yellow. I went to the dr and was told if I leave theres a good chance id die. I now have cirrhosis and kidney damage. Nobody is invincible, and even though im just beginning sobriety, i hope this can reach someone who can relate or learn from this. Wish you all the best and just keep pushing forward.
Hi Steve. I'm sorry to hear about your situation. Thank you for sharing your story. You are in my prayers.
Steve, welcome! I can echo your words. My story exactly. I finally got that call of desperation. I lost almost everything as well. They say alcoholism almost always ends in hospitals, institutions or death. I exhausted the hospitals and institutions and my last detox myself experience I did think I was going to die. Believe me. Detoxed myself many times, this last the worst by far. I get it and many others on here will as well. But you βareβ here. That is a miracle in itself. Stick with it! While I am not a medical doctor, you at least can put a stop to further physical damage and you will get better spiritually, emotionally and mentally one day at a time. Please reach out if you need a friend. I know I speak for many. We are glad you are here!
