Why is finding a sponsor so hard ? I've had two different sponsors now and neither one of them has started any step work nor checked in with me ... Maybe it's just me idk but I definitely need one who is on point with their sponsees ....
It’s more of the Sponsee’s responsibility to check in with their Sponsor - not the other way around. Hit up some women’s meetings in your area, listen to shares and see who you connect with and notice who raises their hand to be a Sponsor. The searching can suck at times but once you find - and engage with - a good Sponsor, it’s an amazing experience. Good luck and keep going!
I’ve had a hard time finding a sponsor too. I’ve had 2 unofficial sponsors that said I could call them anytime and I did when I was in trouble but I’m looking for someone who will be a bit firmer with me. Maybe go to a meeting with me. It’s very hard to make plans with people in recovery. Even with people not in recovery too. I haven’t found the right sponsor.
Trisha, I have sponsored both men and women. Some I’ve met here on this app. We meet over the phone weekly or as needed.
I’m 16 years sober and have done the 12 steps multiple times.
I’ve sent you and friend request if you want to discuss further.
Either way I’m here and happy to help.

YOU need to check in with your sponsor on the daily. Your sponsor is not going to get you sober. You will get yourself sober. Your sponsor is there to guide you along the road of sobriety.
